FoodStuff Science Applied Chemistry: How to Use the Food Unit Worksheets

The Foodstuff Science Applied Chemistry Course has been designed to be very flexible for your student’s learning with ample opportunities to learn in a variety of ways.

One component of the program is the topical Food Unit which features a curated video playlist (some units have selected readings or other sourced multimedia).

There are 20 Food Units (see the list here) for the full course with 140+ videos and over 600 minutes to watch!

Here is a sample of what a Food Unit Worksheet looks like:

They are open-style (no wrong or right answers) worksheets made for recording observations and thoughts from watching the video playlist (and any linked reading articles). {I know traditional education puts high priority on question/answer style learning, but there is definitely lots of learning happening when having small prompts for recording knowledge).

4 Sections on each Food Unit Worksheet

  • Five Facts

Just a small place to record a few facts that your student picks up from the various videos and/or readings (helps practice listening/watching and consolidating information)

  • Sketch Something

Your student can pause the video or use a book to sketch (doesn’t have to be perfect) a visual representation of an idea, diagram, or sample of a food

  • Something Interesting You Didn’t Know

Hopefully there is at least one thing that your student learns that was interesting (encourages curiosity and memory building!)

  • Engage Question

This is a simple question related to the food unit topic designed to help your student think about an idea, problem, or develop their opinion

As with all the printables for this course, it is sized for 8.5x11 inch (normal) paper and is included as a PDF download when you purchase the course ($97 - no subscription necessary!)

Hopefully this style of worksheet encourages your student to be able to relax and enjoy the videos!
