5 Fabulous Alphabet and Number Boardbooks About Food
Here are five fabulous alphabet and number boardbooks about food.
Even as an adult, I love boardbooks with bright colors & illustrations, and the simple to process information.
1) Mrs. Peanuckle’s Vegetable Alphabet by Mrs. Peanuckle
The boardbook has thick, square pages that are filled with adorable, colorful illustrations. (Who can resist little smiley faces?) I love that not every letter is an actual veggie, but all things related to vegetables. This boardbook is part of bigger series (see #2)
2) Mrs. Peanuckle’s Fruit Alphabet by Mrs. Peanuckle
This boardbook has thick, square pages with brilliantly vibrant colors. Each page is a quick read to keep your little one engaged, but also has tidbits of information for everyone else. The boardbook is part of a bigger series (Bugs, Birds, Flowers, etc).
3) A is for Artichoke by America’s Test Kitchen Kids
This book features not only foods, but utensils & tools, tastes, and cooking methods. Each page not only has the featured letter & food related item, but includes a short informational snippet. Illustrations are colorful and delightful caricatures!
4) 123 the Farm and Me by America’s Test Kitchen Kids
Food comes from farms, and this book takes you on a numerical journey from farm to table (numbers 1-10) (The storyline follows the creation of a pizza that is shared by family at the end.) Illustrations are detailed, colorful, and will be fun read over and over again!
5) Edible Numbers by Jennifer Vogel Bass
*note: I actually bought a used hardcover version, but there is a board book version too!
This book counts all the way up to twelve. I love the simple layouts, but that the pictures are real photography of real food. Also noted by each picture is the type/variety of the featured food. (There is also a “Edible Colors” book by the same author that looks super fun too!)
