Workshops
Our Workshops are short classes to teach a skill to encourage students in expressing their creativity, producing products, or enjoying project-based education
Animal Friends: Chicken Lab
Bring a hands-on “field trip experience” right to your table!
Animal Friends: Chicken Lab is a fully mobile, interactive workshop designed for families, education groups, and classrooms across Northwest Arkansas. Students experience an agriculture-math-science lesson, a fun take-home project & reference sheet, and, best of all, the time for a hands-on meet & greet time with real live chickens.
Ag-Math-Science Lesson
During our time together, we dive deep into practical, real-world applications of math and science using my custom visual education assets.
Depending on your students' ages, our core focus can include:
Life Science: Chicken anatomy, egg structural engineering (how a chick breathes inside the shell), the 21-day incubation cycle, intro to genetics
Practical Math: Counting, measuring and weighing, ratios, or flock economics and feeding ratios.
How It Works:
Think of me as your guest science teacher for the day!
You pick the spot - whether that’s your kitchen table, a backyard patio, or a local NWA park - and I’ll arrive with everything needed for a 75-minute interactive lab.
Because I know homeschool days are usually a mix of ages, this workshop is completely adaptable. From littles to high school, I can seamlessly scale the math and science depth up or down for the students at the table.
You get to sit back, drink your coffee, and watch the learning happen.
What's Included:
The Stars: My friendly live chickens (or baby chicks, if I have new ones hatching)
The Lesson: Custom-designed education boards & manipulatives that guide our interactive talk
Project Materials: Wooden chicken & egg ornaments, premium acrylic paint pens, and guided instruction for creatively documenting what we’ve talked about
Take-Home Reference Sheet: A chicken growth cycle page for referencing later
Take-Home Project:
Students will create a detailed, labeled scientific diagram of avian anatomy and egg cross-sections.
Have younger children? No problem! If labeling anatomy is too advanced for your littles, they can focus on real-time observation - painting their ornaments to match the exact colors, patterns, and textures of our live chicken guests.
Students will also get a chicken growth cycle page for referencing on their own!
Investment & Booking:
Gather your family, team up with a neighbor, or invite friends over to split the cost!
Chicken Lab Workshop Base Rate: $150 (for up to 6 students)
Adding Friends? Only $15 per additional student (covers all extra supplies)
